In honor of the Pope
Robert K. Logan, physicist, systems theorist, editor of New Explorations, a former collaborator of Marshall McLuhan, a member of the Pugwash movement, draws our attention to a paper in which he compares the Christian and Jewish traditions with regard to the question of how humans should treat the earth from a systems perspective. He refers to Pope Francis’s “Laudato Si”. In particular, the discussion is on how the bible should be translated: Shall the humans “subdue” the earth, or “occupy” the earth, or be the “stewards” of the earth?
