“Value-Based Engineering” launch with IEEE 7000

Sarah Spiekermann-Hoff, WU professor, chair of the Institute for IS & Society, was host, initiator and main speaker at an event at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) on 16 November 2021 that was sponsored by the IEEE. The IEEE Standard 7000 that was launched “seeks a better and more promising, value-rich form of digital innovation”, as Spiekermann puts it. It is grounded on her work on developing what she baptised “Value-Based Engineering”. She was the spiritus rector and part of the IEEE project group on ethical initiatives that elaborated the new standard.

That standard is a milestone in digital humanism.
