The media vs. the climate?
We invite to a Zoom webinar on Monday, 10 May, 16:00 CEST.
Located on the intersection of capitalist dynamics and public responsibility, Livia Regen’s thesis shines light on how selected cases of media companies in the landscape of the international English-language press respond to the climate crisis. Understanding the media in terms of content, but also in terms of infrastructure and as an economic institution embedded in and intertwined with fossil capitalism, the press’ room for ethically sound agency is explored against the background of macroeconomic dynamics within growthist economies.
In this webinar, Livia Regen presents key insights from her research on The Guardian, HuffPost, Hindustan Times and The Australian, and opens the floor for feedback and exchange on the intersection of media, ethics, the climate crisis and capitalism.
This event is open to the public. If you want to join us, register, pls, by sending a mail to office at gsis.at. You will be provided the link in due time before the webinar.
